Substitution
TJ is all about finding which toy is most like a dummy. Which is fine by me – better that than sucking his thumb.
Playground
TJ is loving playgrounds right now. It’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Making Lunch in the Morning
The dummy thing is going well. He’s adjusting quickly – if you didn’t know he’d had dummies so recently, you’d never guess. Louisette still mentions every so often that she misses her dummy, and is yet to have a daytime nap without one (she usually naps more often than not), but the last two nights felt quite normal.
What’s Missing?
Faced with a shiny bribe in the form of a new dog toy, Louisette agreed that it was time to throw her dummies in the bin and never, ever use them again.
I’d discussed this bribe with her before, and when she went for it I wasn’t going to waste it – we immediately threw away a bunch of dummies (hers and TJ’s – it was always going to be synchronised) at the mall.
Last night wasn’t great, but it wasn’t the worst night ever. TJ had two naps today – settling quite well each time – and is now asleep for the night without much hassle. The transition is by no means over, but it feels good to be dummy-free after three years!
As I loaded the above photo (from a nap earlier today), TJ woke up 😦
Oh well. It couldn’t be too easy.
Penultimate
This is the second-last caterpillar photo. Having him lie down is getting harder and harder!
